Blogger layout 101 by a blogger newbie (fail version)

My cousin just managed to dig up my blog account from a page I'm maintaining and developed a new fired up sense to update her long neglected blog account. She's currently trying hard to update the layout of her blog page...problem is, she got little or littler than little kind of patience. I was once a very patient gal but recently I seem to develop the same symptoms she's having ( is it true, impatience is one of the many signs of premature aging?) .She wants me to update the layout for her, but I'd like her to do it by herself. (evil grin).I'd like her to do it herself so that she'll know the basics. I already lost the same patience I had when I updated the layout of this blog page,so, in my most helpful kind of way I came up with this post.

Ready-to-use
the cutest blog on the block
-this site is user friendly and it caters to your basic needs if you want to add a dash of sass to your page.
From different themed layouts to buttons and blinkies , you can find them here. Good luck though on choosing what template to use. They have a wide array of choices that you'd have a hard time making up your mind on what to use.

feedjit allows you to track your page visitors

Flag Counter gives you a summary of the visitors your page is having through by countries.

Chatbox lets your visitors to leave a message without the hassles of the traditional 'send-me-an-email' if they want to say their hi's.

When you click those links, customize the features and copy the code generated.

......
end of my project...I ended up customizing her page and envied the results afterwards.
So much for my disciplinary advocacy. ... check out her blog and the layout by clicking this link

...with screenshots to capture and edit and the step by step process...you'd rather update the page yourself than make a guide like the one I attempted to do.

Lazy hazy ...I think it's in the genes.

KUMBIRA 2013

KUMBIRA is an annual culinary show that is one of the many events for Kagay-an festival. This year 2013 is the 17th KUMBIRA event held at Limketkai Atrium Cagayan de Oro City. It is a 3 day (August 14-16,2013)event  of activities from showdowns, free seminars and exhibits. I attended the 2nd day event just to check 'em out. If any of you would want to witness the 3rd day event, general admission costs Php60.00 and Php45.00 for students. I say, go with your comfiest outfit and 'travel light' since you'd be roaming around checking out the booths and watching live showdowns and you'd also want to take pictures of the foods displayed.

Here are the schedules for the 3 day event, there's still tomorrow.:

Another immersion/exposure for me... I'll be posting few of the many pictures I captured at the event next post. Enjoy your Kumbira experience!

first first.second first.third first.

Last Saturday, I attended my first acquaintance party. We had an exam before that (in the morning) and a game after the exam. The game I shall call mime relay, it is like message relay, only that you have to shut your mouth and let your body do the talking. And obviously, our group lost.( obviously because I suck at these kind of games...nyahe! )and obviously,I just went out of my first line topic.
inspiration for my dress..(photo not mine)

Reverting back to the acquaintance party, It only took me 30 minutes to prep up and go and I spent another 30 minutes on traffic. It was raining and I was starting to feel like I'm at home inside the cab. I wouldn't want to be late on my firsts. Halls opened at 2 PM and the program was supposed to start promptly at 3 PM but my friends came at 4, one was on his way to the mall for his attire...did I mentioned "he"?
I waited for them in the lobby, since I don't want to come in alone and I'm too shy to reserve seats for my friends. The lobby was teeming with people, in pairs but mostly in groups. When acquaintance parties are held in the middle of the semester, expect no new acquaintances to happen at all (though,it seemed that other schools are also having theirs days earlier and some later). Everyone were able to establish already circles of friends. I was enjoying the sight while I'm wrapped up inside my own bubble.
upper part looks like this one(photonotmine)

So much for a first timer, the program started at 4pm. There's oath taking, dance contest, intermission numbers, the food and of course the ever present Lord and Lady of the night. All I remember until now though is that we took many pictures and I am enjoying the time with people who I am comf'table to be with.
After that, we proceeded to a family KTV bar WATEVER...the rooms were named 'if ever', 'whenever' and other evers :D...I've only been to two KTV bars and that was my first in this one. My first too to sing ( i don't know if they sensed how embarrassed I am with my singing) .  I don't have pictures of the KTV's amenities but I do hope I can go back there so that I can share to you the place. (You might want to come one day) Rooms are airconditioned and we spent 300 Php for 1 hour of singing.
That day was full of firsts for me and I am thankful to my friends for letting me tag them along....or maybe the other way round, for letting me tag along ...

Daydreaming at night...again

In random order part 2:
  • v Eat, Drink and be Merry –the laidback style
v  Try ice skating, rollerblades, beach volley, baseball…(dot dot dot, the list could be endless. Once I watch a sport, I tend to start wishing I could do the same too. I have few of some no no’s though, those would be boxing, wrestling and rugby so far.)
v  Tend a bar (by this I meant bartending with lots of flare tending)
v  Swim on a beach (I don’t know how to swim but I love beaches. They have a calming and comforting effect on me. So far, I only know how to soak in the beach.)
v  Swim with some dolphins (..if only I could swim)
v  Camp in the Mountains (complete with bonfires, tents and a starry sky)
v  Sleep.eat.Sleep….on some lazy days (which is almost of the time)
v  Do volunteer works (build houses, clean the streets or maybe be a foster mother for a day ..the needs are endless)
v  Meet more People (Obviously, I’ve only known a few and not much of them know me and only a few of those few are unfortunately stuck with me)
v  Try parasailing, scuba diving and bungee jump (the extreme edition)
v  Write a book ( as an anonymous author)
v  Attend concerts (any concerts for free and sponsored ones. For pricey ones though, I’d splurge on P!nk’s, The Script, Arashi, Boyce Avenue, Nickelback,Hillsong, Bamboo and Cirque du Soleil (If circus do have concerts)
v  Receive Surprises, Chocolates and flowers (Yes! On my wish.to.do list I’d like to do receive the things I’m not so interested into. Basically, I am not a chocolate lover and I pity beautiful flowers that’ll just wilt afterwards. But for once, I’d like to know how would it feel. Maybe then I’d change my views after…)
    You: what are you doin’?
    Me: Uhmmmmm…receiving stuffs :D
v  Write letters (If have someone to send it too)
    v  Receive letters (handwritten ones)
v  Ride a Horse (just like an equestrian)
v  Paint my own room (royal purple? Sunny yellow? Minty green? Pale Blue? Or maybe stick to plain white…as long as it’s not pink…or maybe I’ll paint it fresh green, like that of  pistachio ice cream)
v  Witness a firework festival (I don’t know why but fireworks have some kind of effect on me. I feel at peace and I tend to become mushy. Energizing and relaxing at the same time. Mind you, the after effects on me are indescribable and they can last a long time.
v  Put this list as a blog entry

...well at least,I've managed to put the list as a blog entry. :)

Daydreaming at Night

In no particular order:

v  Play the guitar & piano and sing (Yes,I do have a guitar and a piano but shame on me for letting the dusts set on them. The instruments were there just waiting for my dedication and time) P.S. I even have a flute.
v  Join Hip-hop dance classes (though I always mention yoga and inner peace, I do really want to join hip-hop classes. When I was younger, our school ‘being a Christian school’ only allowed folk dances, interpretative songs and interpretative dances. What’s the difference? Interpretative dance is interpreting the song through dancing, moving your hands, feet, head ,body in accordance to the music .Included here too are your facial expressions. Interpretative song on the other hand is like a drama or a mime out of the meaning of the song. The acting is done with the topic song playing in the background.
v  I want to perform on stage. (Ever since ,I wanted to be up a stage with all the thrill, confidence and all)
v  Sew Dresses (My mother is a dressmaker and I do have a taste for good fashion & style even if I don’t dress according to it)
v  Sketch and Fabric choosing (nothing would feel great than designing the dresses you’ll sew, from the fabric to the details. Imagine the fabric shipping!)
v  Be a party planner (I don’t usually attend parties, ‘coz people don’t usually invite me..ooops! And if they invite me ,I don’t usually go…double ooops! But I love creating themes and plot surprises. If given the chance, I have so much in mind----I love birthday parties and weddings the most)
v  Be a teacher (when I was a kid until high school, it’s always been ‘when I grow up, I want to become a teacher’. I want to influence kids, teach them to create their own dreams and inspire them to reach and achieve it. Being a witness also of school policies that I don’t like much, I have come to dream of having my own teaching pattern and scheme. One that challenges students to do more and something that emphasizes equality. By this, I’m saying no to teacher’s pet.)
v  An entrepreneur- a book cafĂ©, atelier or a pastry shop would be nice.
v  Travel far- I don’t go out much. I haven’t even explored the local spots in the city. Anywhere where I’ve never been would be a great place to start with though I have my wishes rooted for Japan, Brazil, Spain and Italia.
v  Shop, Dine and Unwind –literally!
v  Learn how to drive----and own a bike or car thereafter or afore.
v  Do artworks (one that uses a brush and a watercolor as a medium)
v  Recycled Craftworks (I’m good at it. I think so!)
v  Bake a Cake (even if I’m a pastry chef by name, I believe you have to live according to your title and master the craft to be called one. Someday, I’ll be able to bake my first masterpiece cake..fingers crossed!)
v  Take Orders and bus tables (once in my lifetime perhaps)
v  Strut the Runway (wearing beautiful clothes, shoes and some war paint on my face)
v  Deliver a Speech (one made by myself of course)
v  Do early Morning Jogs (…just around the neighborhood, but being a late bedriser, I doubt I’d be able to do so. I think so too that our neighborhood is not an ideal place for a jogger with wandering thoughts. )
v  Attend business meetings and conferences ( ‘nuff said)
v  Be famous and respected (the bottom line of it all)
v  Plant a flower and a vegetable garden (take note of the ‘AND’ word)

Ginger...ahhhhh.

Our Executive Director went to a business conference and bought a treat for us upon coming back. Last year, he brought dried fruits from his trip out of the country . Last month, he brought us these ginger candies. Since it's new to me, I took only one and bit a little portion from it instead of the usual shove-the-candy-in-your-mouth habit.

It looks like a gummy candy and nothing is so unusual about it's appearance. Good thing I took caution, for that tiny piece that I bit seems to represent a handful of pressed ginger in my mouth. It's a good feeling at first and then you'll start to fan your mouth and pant because of its very strong flavour.

I say, this is good for singers ( i think) , it soothes the throat really . As for me? I still have the remaining portion of the candy tucked in my bag. (teehee) want some?
